Richard Scott, Diplomat of the ACVIM

Dr. Richard ScottDr. Richard Scott graduated from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1968. After a post-graduate internship and residency program at the Animal Medical Center in NYC, he joined the staff of the AMC in 1972; he became certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1975. Dr. Scott served as the Chief of AMC’s Medical Service 4 from 1972-1985 dealing with cases in internal medicine and, especially, diseases of the kidney and urinary system. In 1985, Dr. Scott initiated the abdominal ultrasound service at the Animal Medical Center where he continues today performing the majority of that diagnostic work. Dr. Scott has taught and directed the careers hundreds of interns, residents, and other staff at the AMC including that of Dr. Burns in the 1970s and many of our other veterinarians since then. Dr. Scott has also lectured throughout the US as well as overseas and has published articles in the veterinary literature on urinary tract diseases, internal medicine, and ultrasound. He joined the staff of the Downtown Veterinary Medical Hospitals Group in 2002 where he performs ultrasound studies twice weekly.
